Here goes,
I have 2 issues with windows 10. 1, which I noticed earlier than the other, is that I can not use most of the tool bar. I can't use the start menu at all (left or right click does nothing) and I can't use the little icons down the bottom right either (again, left or right click does nothing), however I can use the applications that I've minimized that appear in the middle of the task bar. This issue is very frustrating as I have to manually find everything instead of searching it in the start menu.
The 2nd issue, perhaps worse, is that my screen flickers whenever I log in after starting up. It continues to flicker and the desktop is completely bare (ie no icons or anything on the task bar), and it may be worth noting that I am able to open the task manager, which does NOT flicker, and that I noticed this issue after either a windows 10 update or a graphics card driver update (I can't remember sorry). I've tried restarting many times, and sometimes if i'm lucky the flickering will stop and I am able to use the computer normally (minus the task bar) however this is only a short term fix. I have tried many solutions, such as disabling "Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel" and ‘Windows Error Reporting Service" from the 'msconfig' window, however that only made the issue worse, increasing the frequency of screen flickers. I've tried reinstalling my graphics driver in windows 8 compatibility mode, however this solved nothing. I've also tried uninstalling my graphics driver, however the first time it miraculously reinstalled itself, and the second time (this time choosing to remove the files while uninstalling it) the flickering continued while the graphics driver was not even in the device manager list, however I'm not sure if this eliminates the possibility that the graphics driver is the issue here. I've also tried uninstalling potentially incompatible apps, however to do this I must access the 'settings' app, and I cannot use windows key shortcuts (issue 1 prevents me) and I cannot click on the 'settings' icon in the explorer for another unknown reason. I would rather not do a fresh reinstall of windows 10 as this would be a tedious process, however if it comes to it I may have to.
If it helps I have an Nvidia GTX 970 gpu.
I'm not sure if these issues are related, but if anyone could help (in detail) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
