Hello there,I've got a laptop, asus x551m with free dos.I wanted to install windows 7 on it and so I did...but when I tried to enable wifi it wasn't recognised. The driver that asus provides in the website is Qualcomm atheros Wireless Lan Driver and Application. When I try to install it it says that the device might have been disconnected or disabled.I have pressed the f2 and it says All Wireless Devices Enabled but only bluetooth seems to work. The device itself doesn't have any hardware problems because I had it running on windows 8.1 and the wifi was working. So what can I do to make it work? 😛 Thank you

If the machine is newer, and you're using an older driver, the driver may not be certified for use on the older OS. You may need to find a driver that's intended for use with the older OS or possibly you might try right clicking the executable driver installer file and selecting install as administrator.

In some cases, using an older OS with a newer machine simply won't work because the hardware vendor never intended for compatibility with that OS and has never felt the need to produce compatible drivers. Network adapters are usually the main devices I see this issue in regard to with attempting to downgrade the OS on a newer machine.
