Unable to view certain files and update programs

For about a month I have been unable to view zip files and update programs such as Java and Steam. When trying to update Steam and Java they begin to update but never finish. When trying download/view a zip file it gives an error message saying that the file is invalid. Does anyone know how to fix these problems?

you use win 7 did you made a good virus scan without network and use malwarebytes to do some clean up .
