Unallocated Hard Disk

Today i added a second hard disk to my computer, but I can't see it in my computer. When I go to my computer management it says that it is online, but it won't let me do anything else with it after that. I'm worried about following other threads because people have said a few things they offered would remove memory, and I do not want to lose the memory on my old hard disk. The new one I'm not worried about because there's nothing on it. Thanks in advance!

If you can see it as unallocated then you should be able to initialize it in disk management by right clicking on the drive, and then format it.

If that doesn't work, try diskpart. HERE is a set of instructions on using diskpart.
