Uncompatible or dead ram if the computer is not booting?

Hi guys recently bought a used Lenovo TS 430 thinkserver. It came with 4gb of ddr3 ram (2x2) not sure if its ECC or not. Recently tried to add a single stick of 4gb with the same speed but its non buffered non-ecc but the computer does not recognize it. Rather it wont even boot. It posts meaning the fans turn on and everything but nothing comes on the screen/boots. I went to manufacturers website and found the motherboard model but I don't know whether or not the ram is compatible or not. I know the cpu and the ram supports 32gb and has 4 dimms. Help would be appreciated.

So in total how many ram sticks do you have installed? Because ram modules usually have to run in pairs to work if it is a dual channel kit

I have 3 sticks in total. I read in other forums that there were many instances where mixing and matching sticks like this usually works.

would it still work if I disabled ECC from BIOS?

Mixing DRAM is never a good idea, and mixing ECC and Non-ECC is even worse.
