UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR windows 8.1 pro. Some connection with gpu.

I recently built a desktop currently running Windows 8.1 pro. Motherboard is Asus maximus vi hero with i7 4770k @ 3.5mhz. My gpu is a gigabyte NVIDIA gtx770 factory oc. Whenever I try to access a lot of programs and settings I get the blue screen of death and UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR and my computer restarts. I have isolated the problem to the gpu since it doesn't happen when I take the gpu out and run on built in graphics. I have all drivers installed. Why is this happening? Can I fix it or should i contact Microsoft and Gigabyte?

make sure you have inserted the gpu correctly. it requires more pressure to be applied to insert a gpu than one usually expects

Update: the exact error is WHEA_UNCORECTABLE_ERROR I have narrowed it down to the 3D drivers from Nvidia. I will try to update them when I have internet access to see if that fixes it but in the mean time, does anyone know what the problem is? I would like to be able to run 3D in the years to come.

As I posted that it crashed again this time with no 3D drivers. It is clearly the drivers however.

Conflicting drivers? Have you tried disabling onboard graphics when you plug in your GPU?
