Under $1,000 gaming rig. suggestions or is this good?

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm

Ram:
G.Skill sniper 8GB (2x4GB), DDR3 1600, PC3 12800

Case:
Coolermaster Storm Enforcer

it costs $957.90 from Newegg. but i can go slightly over $1,000, i just thought it would be good to set a budget for myself.
also i was thinking about getting a fan controller, any suggestions?

A Western Digital "Black Edition" hard drive will greatly outperform the Seagate. The hard drive is as important as any part to the total package. Don't skimp on it. Of course go with a SSD drive if in budget.

Sounds good. The Crosshair IV is one of the best motherboards around, and you may want to think about changing the CPU Cooler as I have used it personally and do not like it.

i've heard great things about the croshair IV but the fact that it's not AM3+ isn't a huge deal for me because by the time i buy a new CPU i'll probably be ready to just build a new system all together 😛 ( I find it fun to build a new system every couple of years, also it helps me stay in the loop a little)

but thats surprising to hear capatcha, i've heard nothing but good reviews of the hyper 212+, what exactly did you not like about it, and what other coolers would you suggest?

ill be using windows 7 but i already have it, and i thought about getting a 2500k but i've had poor experiences with intel CPU's before and i've always been happy with AMD. would the 2500k really make that big of a difference in gaming?

at high resolutions like at least 1080p there will be very little difference in fps between the 2500k and the 965. but imo you should wait for bulldozer as it is close to launch and get an am3+ mobo of course

for 1000$ you could build something with way better performance if you went with intel....

if you need a reason then because i dont feel like intel is better than AMD to the point where they can charge what they do. price for performance AMD wins.

back on topic i think ill wait til bulldozer gets released before i make my decision. thanks for the input though everybody 😀
