Hello, everyone

I recently bought the AMD 8350 and sadly after my build don't have enough money to get a new cooler for it, so i'm stuck with the stock for the moment.

I have been seeing very high temps recently after load (65c) so i would like to under clock it slightly. As it is on 4.0GHz at the moment i would like to under clock it to around 3.7GHz. However i do not know what a safe voltage for this under clock is. At the moment the voltage is 1.3375, what do you think i should set the voltage to after the underclock?

I'm not sure if it just comes with AMD video cards but if you open up Catalyst Control Center, you can automatically adjust the CPU clock automatically and it should take care of your voltages, etc.. as well.

what i suggest you do is the following.

load into your bios. Most fx cpus can survive a little undervolting at stock without downclocking. so we'll try that first. In your bios, the advanced tab you should find something called the vcore. that's your cpu voltage. change it from auto to 1.3375. that's it's base vcore. now take 0.0125V off of it. that will bring you down to 1.3250V. load into windows and run prime95. assuming it can run 2 or 3 passes your cpu is stable. if temps are still too high, go back into your bios and lower the vcore another 0.0125V down to 1.3125V. try prime again.

keep doing this till prime95 fails or windows fails to load. this should drop your cpu temps a bit. If your temps are still too high, in your bios there should be a turbo mode, turn it off. that will prevent your cpu from clocking up to 4.2ghz, and keep the cpu at it's base clock of 4.0 ghz. this will also let you to continue to drop your vcore... and as a result lower temps. drop vcore more and keep testing with prime95.

This. If it still persists check the Catalyst Control Center and set some of the settings at a lower level.
