Underperforming i5 2500k, 6950 2gb...or so it feels

So my build is as follows:

CPU: i5 2500k
GPU: Asus 6950 2gb
RAM: Ripjaw 2x4 Gb 1600
Motherboard: Asus P8p67
GPU: GS 700 PSU
Chassi: NZXT H2

I figured i could play games such as Call of duty: Black ops on 1920x1080 on max settings without a prob... but it i certainly cant :/ I havent realy tried single player, but in MP it wont do. I play at 15-50 fps or so and its feels quite unreliable. However crysis 2 seems to player smoother...though that is in single player. Bit hard to get a conclusion from this info i understand, but my question is:

Will overclocking my i5 2500k make any difference? And do you recommend flashing bios to 6970/overclocking the 6950. Is it gonna make a big dif? I've read some articles about the overclocking on 6950 and it seems kind of neat.

Anyway...i might get another 6950 to boost the performance, but sadly my GS 700 cant handle it so will have to get a new one...and that might be bit out of my budget atm.

Oh and also - if im gonna overclock my CPU/GPU - got any recommended cooling options? I heard the CPU fan aint realy up to the job atleast...

Does Black Ops still require manual modding of it's config to enable multi-core CPU support? I know it needed to be done at launch, but that was a long time ago. I gave up on that game a couple weeks later, so I don't know if that issue and the many other multi-player "lag" problems were ever resolved via updates. All I can remember is my friends and I being continuously frustrated by the fact that the game's entire config was setup for play on a freakin Xbox-360.

Sounds logical...i put down the resolution to like 1200 somethinh atm and it works alright..but who wanna play with that low res

1) Absolutely do NOT overclock that CPU with just one 6950. There's no need. You can see how much of your CPU is being utilized by monitoring the Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL). Leave the TM running, run a game for at least 5 minutes, close the game then look at your CPU core graphs. *make sure TM is set to slow update, and that ALL cores/threads are showing.

My HD5870 is about the same as your card and my CPU usage is quite low (about 30% roughly). You need to ignore the threads as they're rarely used. The physical cores are the 1st (core 0) graph, third graph, fifth and 7th.

2) You need to run the SAME benchmarks as you can find online and see how you compare. It's pretty rare for somebody to not be running properly and less something's majorly screwed up.

3) Make sure you have all your drivers up to date. The motherboard ones should be online. The MAIN CHIPSET driver for the motherboard is very important. (latest AMD is 11.6)

4) The BIOS is also important to have up to date (more for stability).

Do two things and compare to my system if you want:
1) Run the Windows Experience Index (I get 7.5, 7.5, 7.2, 7.2, and 7.9). My 7.9 is because of my SSD's)

2) Run the DEFAULT benchmark for the old benchmark utility 3DMark2001se (Google it). You should get slightly better than me, however it might not be completely accurate because CPU results could affect results. It's the GRAPHICS part that really matters.

3) If you had "Dirt 2" we could compare benchmarks. If you have it, turn everything as high as it can go on 1920x1080 if possible and tell me the average result.
