[SOLVED] Uneven thermal paste

Ok so I recently bought and installed a new cooler with pre-applied thermal paste. Thing is, when I was installing it, I accidently smeared some of the thermal paste on random parts of the cpu. Im worried that some parts of the cpu might not be in contact with any thermal paste, and so those parts will get extra hot and get damaged. My temps are normal (around 60), so am I being paranoid?

Depends on how much paste you wiped off. If its just a bit of scratching then it'll spread out when you clamp the cooler to the cpu.

I wiped off like around 25-30%. All my temps are completely normal though

That sounds like a bit more than I'd be happy with. But if your cpu temps while stressed are OK then you should be fine.

Just to clarify, I didnt wipe the thermal paste completely off, its just that its a bit uneven. Theres still the same amount of paste on there
