unexpected power off

I've read several similar questions but cannot apply advice you gave (use Event Viewer -- don't know how to read results). My laptop shuts down completely (but not always) when I play a particular game or when I view lengthy videos. It does feel hot, but then it always feels hot. Can I check something myself, or does this require a visit to computer doctor?

there could be possible reason is it has alot dust in cpu(processor) fan,that makes fan slow down and system heatup, or may be its cpu(processor) thermal paste is dry, in both cases u might need to open it and see and if paste is dry then it needs to reapply, some videos 'll help you, find in youtube, how to clean the fan dust or how to apply thermal paste
