Unfamiliar Cables from Casing

Hi, I was assembling my first PC, and I have set up all the cables to the motherboard, except for the three identical cables shown in the image in the link.. Does anyone know what they are for? Can’t seem to find the description. My guess is it’s for the fans, but I don’t know where to plug them. Can’t seem to find any appropriate match from the MoBo.

Can you not trace the wires back to the source to see if they are for the fans or not? Likely, if you do not have anything plugged into the fan headers on your motherboard, and you do have fans installed, then that's what they are, but lets be sure before we start plugging things in without being certain of where they belong.

Please also list the model numbers for your case, motherboard and whether or not you've purchased any additional fans. Also, whether or not there even ARE fans installed in the case. Have you connected the fan for your CPU cooler already and if so, which fan header did you connect it to?

You connect the first one to a Sata power cable from your PSU. It connects to the High/Medium/Low fan speed switch on your case. The other 3-pin cables go to the case fans.

Hi darkbreeze, thank you for the reply.

I cannot trace it back unfortunately.

I have Fractal design define R5 as the case, MSI B350 Gaming Pro Carbon Mobo, and no additional fans, only the two that came in the case.

I’ve plugged both of them to the MoBo indicated “SYS_Fan”. I hope that’s the right one?

So, as mentioned, those go to the case fans and there is probably another connector as shown that connects to the integrated fan controller.
