The storage pool is about 16 TB so that's not really an option without spending nearly a grand
- Get an (external) drive the capacity of the pool;
- Download a Linux CD which can make image copies, like CloneZilla;
- Boot that CD, plug your external drive, and make image copies of your storage pool' drives.
- Disconnect the backup drive.
- Now, try whatever recovery tool you might find.
Have you tried R-Undelete from https://www.r-tt.com/ ? People have reported recovering data from Storage Spaces with that.
If you don't have backup of your data - use that external storage once you recover your data as a backup drive. And decide for yourself whether your data is worth more than $900 (AUD or not)
