So I recently moved to a new house. One of the first things I did was set up my devices with the new router. In this case the router/modem is an Arris TG862. All of my devices (iPod, iPhone, iPad, Desktop) work flawlessly, except my laptop (Lenovo Ideapad S405 runnig Windows 8). I'll try to connect and I'll get "Unidentified Network, No Internet Access" when I hover over the wireless icon in the taskbar. I've tried everything I can think of. The main solution I've been reading for similar problems online is a TCP/IP stack reset. When I type in "netsh int ip reset reset.txt" I get "resetting, failed. access is denied." I've updated network drivers, checked router settings... nothing. The REALLY weird part is, I can connect perfectly fine on my dads network.

Solution
For the really tough unidentified network problems, I've just changed the wireless adapter MAC address with success on Windows 7, but have not tried it on an 8 machine yet. The most simple way to spoof the address is to use THIS application. It is free and has simple directions on the lower part of the page, and saves your real MAC address should you wish to change it back.

Solution

Holy crap that actually worked! Thank you! I'm really surprised I hadn't found this solution when I was tearing apart Google for answers.

I have been working SO HARD on this problem for 3 days! I had tried EVERY other answer out there:
1) driver update
2) driver roll back
3) 'Bonjour' service termination
4) changing adapter settings
5) resetting router
6) changing cords
7) changing router slots
Was just abut to re-install OS until I saw this!!! You saved me!
THIS WORKED FIRST GO!

I have the same problem ... every other laptop or device can & is connected to the internet via my wifi, except mine! I've downloaded this from another computer & installed it on mine, but when i run it, it says it cannot connect to the internet & to make sure my network connection is active & try again ....:??: Thats my issue ... i cannot get on the internet .HELP!

Kathy, create a new post with information on your OS and computer specs that won't pick up wireless -- also some information on your router and other device set up will help. It would also help, assuming that you have a PC, if you run ipconfig in the command prompt window and post the data on your current IP address and gateway (if any) on the problem machine.

If you connect the problem machine with an Ethernet cable, does it make a connection?

You may have an entirely different issue, and old posts like this don't get much reading by the knowledgeable folks here, especially since it is marked solved.
