EDIT: I'm an idiot the cable wasnt plugged in properly lol

I just bought a new modem for my home and finished setting it up, however my Ethernet connection is not working on my desktop. The connection says "Unidentified Network, Public Network, No network access". My ethernet is connected to a wall socket which is then connected to a gigbit switch then the modem router.
I've seen some forums say something like resetting IP address or changing the switch to be in the same subnet as the modem, but I have no idea what any of that means or how to even fix it.

Modem router: Netgear Nighthawk d7000
Switch: TP-Link TL-SG1005D

If any other info is needed please let me know thanks!

You can have your switch on a different subnet. Can you connect your machine and exclude the wall plate connector? Modem>Switch>Computer.

Do you get an IP address?
