from unigine site

Key Features

''•Stress load for the GPU heating system''

looks like one of them get it and see and hope your card don't get damaged ''stressing'' that heating system [????]

you got anything on that ??? does it run your card up in temps till it fails or something ???

It depends on the quality of the graphics card.

Most all graphics cards from amd and nvidia have "thermal overload protection"

When they get too hot they reduce clockspeed which allows them to cool down but also can make frame rates drop.

I agree with damric. As a user of Valley and Heaven for years, this one is boring to watch. Both Valley and Heaven have very cool renderings and are each beautiful. While this benchmark does really stress my GPU, the scope of the benchmark is very, very small.

so what do you get with that 1.2 ''GB'' download if your saying

''Fans of previous Unigine benchmarks will be disappointed. This benchmark looks and feels like it's beta, with no multi-GPU support and few changeable quality settings. ''

you would think at that size program it would of been something more on par with 3DMark firestrike

I do hope that data base Unigine sets up is like 3dmark and can pick out just what test run , gpu and cpu you want to compare to not just a bunch of wild random scores all over the place to weed out for your like system

''yup real good benchmark this one is OpenGL works fine but we all know AMD suck in OpenGL and with no DX12 or Vulcan I don't see why they bothered with this junk''

may need to wait on 2.0 ? with anything just released and new you do kinda got to expect some bug's and issues like heaven its 4.0 its all a work in progress and your the beta tester right now

Linux guys seem to like it ?

''I've been testing out Superposition the past number of weeks under Linux and it's certainly the most visually impressive tech demo / application / game I've yet to see running on Linux, even with its OpenGL usage. And yes, it's very taxing on the hardware.''

my lackluster run

funny how optimized for 4K scores higher ?? and then I did not apply any overclock to the card [stock run]

The game mode. I get that it's supposed to let you see what would be a more appropriate scenario than 'stress test-flyby', but...is there an actual game? For example, the flashlight was highlighted. Before I even picked up the flashlight, I had discovered that you pick stuff up, and throw it. So why highlight the flashlight? You can't turn it on, you just throw it also. I feel like there's a puzzle that is too obscure, and we'll read about it a year down the road: "Somebody Solved Superposition's Secret". Until then, and it's not even covered in this article, it feels like a pointless option to select.

no just seems to be a interactive free fly like go to the dart board and get a dart and back off and throw it at something or flick a switch on something , use chalk board ect......

''They should definitely get Vulkan support too/instead''

ya , but its all ready old they just did not release it till now for what I read on that maybe in a revision down the road ???

''Re)member that dazzling-looking Superposition benchmark from Unigine - the one that was supposed to have arrived late 2016? The one that apparently wasn't good enough for Steam? ''

maybe it was not vulkan ready at its first time it was ready for release ??

may have to wait on the next one for any of that...

The benchmark itself is not damaging the card, but it helps to reveal a faulty one. For example, if you have unstable behaviour of your PC, you can run the GPU stress-test to figure out if it is the faulty part or nor. Also the stress-test is helpful if your video card was repaired: you should test if the repair actually helped.
