uninstall apps before updating?

Should you uninstall old versions of apps before installing updated versions? The app in question here is HWMonitor.

Generally, no. The new (updated) files will simply overwrite the existing ones.

If removal of existing version is required, the installer routine will tell you, or it will say so in the download documentation or on the developer's website.
