My Dell laptop came with factory installed Macafee 5.0,oem.
good for 90 day trial period. I want to uninstall this software
as I am going to use another anti-virus software.
My question is can I uninstall this software now or do
I have to wait for 90 days trial period. According to
Dell tech support I have to contact Macafee before I
uninstall, otherwise I might have problem in installing
another anti-virus software.
It is a nuisance, as everytime I boot my laptop
it want to go on-line to update the Macafee software. I know
I will not use this software, so I go to Window task manager
and end the task.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some
advice.

Thank you.

To uninstall SecurityCenter you just uninstall from
add/remove programs first Virus scan, then Firewall, then
Privacy Service and Spam Killer if installed.
Then Uninstall SecurityCenter.
You can get full details here, including what to do
if something fails, but do it in the suggested order.

Might as well use it for the 90-day period and then
uninstall it. Remove all of its components.

And no, you don't have to wait if you don't want to. Although I
would hope that you have the AV program you want to use ready to
install and install it before you next go online after deleting
the McAfee AV program.
