Hi,

I'm planning to get the Asus R9 270 to replace it with my Sapphire HD6450 and I'm wondering,Shall i uninstall the HD6450 Drivers first and then remove it from the case to put the R9 270 OR shall I replace the Cards without doing anything ? Please Help!

Thanks

What I have done in the past is just remove the old card (with the system powered off and the power cord to the power supply unplugged), install the new card, turn the PC on. Once I am in Windows, I make sure the system recognizes the new card (in device manager under display adapters, it should give some info, like make of GPU or card name). Then I install the new card's drivers and go from there. Make sure you plug the new card into the same slot as the old one though. Rarely, I have had an issue where there's no video after replacing the card on initial boot, so I plugged the displays into the motherboard outputs and configured the card that way. You could remove the device in the device manager and uninstall the software suite...

You could remove the device in the device manager and uninstall the software suite associated with the old card if you wanted, but I've never had an issue with just installing the new card. Once you physically remove the device, Windows defaults back to the built-in native display drivers until you install the new card's drivers. Hope that helps.
