uninstalling DirectX ??

Greetings,
I currently have DirectX 9 installed on my system, i would like to uninstall it in order to install a previous version of DirectX...
It's probably quite easy to do, but i just can't figure out how...?!

any help would be nice...

I could be wrong here, and somebody please correct me if neccessary, but I don't think it can be uninstalled. Have to reformat/reinstall.

Why would you wanna go back?

I have Dx9 installed and it's giving me a quite lower results in terms of performance in comparison to Dx8.1 and i wanted to turn back to Dx8.1 ... but aparently thats impossible...
