Hello guys

I'm having trouble installing one finicky USB controller that just refuses to find or install a driver no matter what I do. It's listed in Device Manager under Other as "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller" with a yellow exclamation mark. There isn't a driver installed for this for some reason. All of the USB ports seem to be working properly. I recently did a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I've also installed the USB drivers from the motherboard manufacturer site.

My Specs:
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
Motherboard - MSI Z77 Mpower
CPU - Intel I5-3570K

I'll post images when I have time. Thanks

Sometimes it says USB but it may not be a USB at all, it may just a USB interface but is really, say a camera.

First off, I would unplug all my external devices and see if it does away then you know exactly what device you are dealing with.

If that is not it, "unknown device" is typically caused by a driver you have failed to install from the Mobo's vendor. I have a couple on my newly built PC for months, but since they don't seems to be doing any harm, and I have no complaint, leaving them along until I have time.

The only things I have plugged in via USB are keyboard and mouse. I've tried unplugging them to see if it would go away but it's still there. From what I've come to conclude from the hardware ID in the picture I posted above is that it has something to do with Intel USB 3.0. I've installed everything I know to install. Maybe I need to check into Windows Update?
