So I did a fresh install of my windows 7, and wiped both my ssd and hard drive clean. I had a backup of all the drivers i had used the last time i installed windows 7 and just copied them over. Did the whole windows update shabang all is good.

Until...I notice some of my back usb 3 ports are not working. So I go over to device manager and i see that some drivers are not installed. No biggie, just headed over to motherboard manufacturer's website and installed all the latest drivers for my motherboard that I could find there.

My PC build is this:
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 760K 3.8GHz Quad-Core
Motherboard: MSI A78M-E45 Micro ATX FM2+
Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 270 2GB DirectCU II
Windows 7 64-bit

But the ports are still not working. Tried to "search automatically for updated driver software". This is what i am getting:

I have even tried using driver identifier program, but it gives me a useless driver, that still comes up with an exclamation mark in windows device manager. Please help Tom's Hardware, I have no idea what to do next 🙁

P.s. some useful information that might help us figure out what the hell is going on:

Thank you

Have you tried a BIOS update, its possible that the latest Chipset driver needs the latest BIOS.
I'm not sure that I have ever come across this before but it is a possibility, and surely worth a try.

Another thing you could look at is if the USB ports are enabled from the BIOS.
Or even any USB related setting that could possibly cause such an issue.
It may sound stupid but again it is worth checking out,
Go to MSI's homepage and find the driver from their support archive.

Search your motherboard model (make sure it is the correct revision etc.), search for drivers (remember to choose correct OS). Download all the USB drivers to the same folder --> go to device manager and select "update driver software" and click "browse" to select the folder you just created.

Don't select a driver, let the driver update search through the folder, by just selecting the folder and clicking "ok"

Tried this several times, did not work
