Unknown device usb windows 7

Hello,
I NEED HELP with my labtop HP
when I attach usb flash in one of the three usb
i see amessabe that didn,t recoggnize the device and it is unkhown device
what can i do

Have you tried all three usb connectors?
Have you tried using the flash device on another computer?
What is the brand of the flash?
What is the OS running?
You can try booting the laptop using a Linux Ubuntu Live disk and see if the drive can be seen or written to.
