I don't know WHERE or HOW to classify this so I'll list the issues and go from there. I'm running WIN 7 on new (refurbished) Dell Precision T3500 w/Avast antivirus. I ran into an issue where (all of a sudden) Citrix Receiver, a program used to access a portal on my job was not working & a corp tech spent several hours trying to resolve it. He suggested that I use system restore to fix it so I ran the program but problems developed in doing so, so I ran the WIN install disc to resolve issues. I was able to run citrix & go to work but now several programs do not run properly. Some will launch and hang while others launch and die.
Thinking there was some conflict with programs I uninstalled Complete System Care which made some maintenance jobs easy but was not essential and the uninstall feature was locking up every time I tried to use it.
I installed a program that I have used in the past called recuva that recovers lost data on CF cards and used it 2-3 times. I closed it then tried to launch it again and it launched but dies, i.e. nothing appears on the screen. I tried to start it again 3 times and the same thing happened. I checked my Task Manager and found 3 .exe files for it and was able to closed all but one of them & that one will not close but no matter what I do to end it.
Thinking something has slipped pass my virus I installed malware-bytes and the SAME THING happened w/it where I launch it but it dies. Checked some of my existing programs and they run fine but it appears that something is blocked certain programs from running.
