My second PC's RAM is really bad, and it doesn't work properly. I was looking for something cheap and found a new "JOY-IT" RAM. Never heard of it, but it looks legit. Should I buy it? I mean, is it safe? Are those unknown RAM brands bad, can they hurt your PC or what?

It's a 4GB DDR3 2Rx8 12800u (1600MHz) stick.

They cannot hurt your PC per se but they could corrupt data going in and out of RAM with a variety of possible consequences.

Update your post to include full hardware specs and OS.

The guiding document is the User Guide/Manual for your motherboard.

The installed RAM must match the motherboard's specifications with respect to RAM specs, installation, and configuration options.

If you want to use Dual Channel, for example, then the installed modules should be purchased as a matched kit.

And some motherboards specify that the first module be physically installed in a specific slot.

Cheap is cheap and unknown brands are a warning. Especially with so many counterfeit and otherwise substandard products being sold. Goes beyond just RAM.

Buy known RAM from known vendors with good ratings. And read the return policies - just in case.....
