I recently had to reinstall windows to beat a pc virus and everything went well except now i keep getting the stupid windows alert for a usb device being inserted or removed several times an hour I have tried several different options of reinstalling or updating the drivers and the power change options ect... nothing has worked and this is driving me crazy. PLEASE HELP lol.

This is the device listed in my device manager:
~Universal Serial Bus controllers
Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Failed)
~Device Status:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

what USB devices do you have?

I have found a solution that will make the annoying message go away! I know all the other solutions will most likely not work. Open up your device manager and expand the USB arrow you will see all your USB hubs and probably one with a yellow warning If your getting the message with device manger open it will probably flash open and closed as you are trying to view it, Start at the bottom of the USB listings and right click you will see listings for update driver software -disable and uninstall click on disable ( Do not uninstall as windows will automatically try to reinstall when the computer restarts ) Do this for each listing until the message stops popping up. depending on the number of USB slots you have you may still have some available working ports. At the worst you have gotten rid of that message that pops up every 2 seconds Hope this helps.
