Hey Guys,
So I have quite an interesting issue.
It first started when my friend wanted to charge his phone (an LG G3) through a G930 USB dock this looks like this: http:// which is plugged into the back of the motherboard of an ASUS Sabertooth Z87.
He then accidentally drops the phone, and the micro-usb connector on the end of the docking station broke, kind of like this: http://
After that, I got a few messages relating to USB devices malfunctioning. My webcam that was plugged into the motherboard malfunctioned. I also got a message saying something about not enough power to the device or something of the sort.
So I, then, decided to restart the computer. And once it restarted, everything was fine. The USB devices still work and are recognized by the computer.
But now, I have this issue where if I plug any device into the front panel USB ports, it will generate (if it has not already been installed) an "Unknown USB Device". If, for example, if I uninstall this "Unknown USB Device" driver, and plug a device into the front panel, this driver will install again.
It has a hardware ID of "USB\UNKNOWN".
Did I happen to short something on the motherboard?
Please let me know if you need anymore information.
Thanks!
EDIT: I also want to add that when I was trying to test if the "Unknown USB Device" driver kept installing when I plugged multiple devices on different front panel USB ports by uninstalling the "Unknown USB Device" driver and having it reinstall, I encountered a BSOD.
The BSOD read "Plug and Play detected an error most likely caused by a faulty driver."
