Hi Guys,

I have an old (9 years old) computer running Windows 10. Asus motherboard, Core i5 3rd gen, 8GB memory, SSD, GTX 760. It works perfectly, but it has one issue, that just started recently. It is constantly "unplugging" and then "plugging in" a USB device. Sometimes it can happen 5 times in a day, other times it will happen 100+ times in one hour. It is random, it doesn't happen in a particular game or program.

The description of the device constantly resetting is Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Port_#0002.Hub_#0005

I have removed all USB devices from the computer, every one including mouse and keyboard, and the problem persists. (Used Teamviewer to remote in so I could control the computer with no mouse or keyboard attached).
I have disabled the device in Device Manager, it still occurs, even after a restart. It is still disabled after the restart, but continues to disconnect/reconnect.
I have used USBLogView, and I can see it as it happens, it unplugs, then instantly plugs back in. Same result with NO USB devices plugged in.
I have used USBDeview, and tried disabling the device there, no luck.
I have connected the mouse to every USB on the computer, front and back, one at a time, and they all connect fine, and USBLogView tells me that there is NO USB port on the case or motherboard that is Port #0002 Hub #0005.
Inspected all the ports, no broken tongues or bent pins, reconnected the front USB 3 connector. No result.

It may have been after an update, but not sure...

Can anyone enlighten me on what may be disconnecting and reconnecting, and if so, is there a way to disable just that USB "port" or "port/hub" so that it stops.

Many thanks in advance....

Thanks Colif. I forgot to mention in the original post that after removing all the USB devices, I uninstalled EVERY single device in the USB section of the Device Manager, then restarted the computer. Everything loaded OK, all the drivers were reinstalled, but the unplug/plug of this one port/hub continued. So no luck. Any other suggestions???
