Re: Dell Inspiron 546. About 2 weeks ago, I shut my comparer down no problems. Next morning it wouldn't boot. Had steady yellow/orange light. Since then, replaced motherboard, cpu and power supply and still have steady yellow/orange light.
disconnect all non essential parts, power to drives (storage and optical), remove add on cards, etc....
(Where is the orange/yellow light in question? Do you get any display at all? does it at least spring the fans up, attempting to power on?)
Sometimes, something as simple as a bad RAM module will prevent a unit from even powering on; drop down to one stick, alternately testing both in required first slot....
