Unlock my BitLocker locked external HDD

I am the owner of my 1TB HDD and have correct password however on entering it says - Bitlocker drive encryption failed to recover from an abruptly terminated conversion. This could be due to either all conversion logs being corrupted or the media being write protected.

When I tried with my recovery key, it says - invalid recovery key however its the same key generated during setup. please help how can I recover my 1TB of data without buying a new HDD (I tried that too however didn't work as it says few MBs were less in new one and can't buy another one now)
