Unlocking AMD Phenom II X4 960T to X6

Greetings everyone! Currently, this is how my rig looks like:

ASRock 870 EXTREME3
AMD Phenom II X4 960T (Black Edition)

I activated the UCC feature of the ASRock 870 mobo to unlock the other cores of the 960T. After booting up, I opened CPU-Z. It shows the name "AMD Phenom II X6 1605T" but the Cores and Threads show only "4" instead of "6". It also shows 4 boxes in the Task Manager Performance tab. Why is that? Am I doing something wrong? I tried searching around but I couldn't find a similar issue.

Check in the bios under the core unlock feature and manually set to 6 cores, not automatic. If that does not work then those two cores are most likely faulty and were deactivated for a reason

The quad cores CAN NOT be unlocked to a 6 core. Only the 3 cores to a 4 core. On Athlons you can unlock the L3 cache and make it a phenom. But that is it buddy.

the 960t is based on thubans and have 2 cores disabled down to a quad core, reasoning for the "T" after the model number, a small amount of research will prove this

Thanks for the reply! I went to the BIOS and checked but I can't find an option to choose how many cores to enable.

Oh well x.x If that's the case, should I still stick with the 1605T with 4 cores or revert settings back to the original 960T?

look in oc tweaker, and find asrock ucc, and where it says enable see if theres a manual setting

Yep, did that and didn't show any core selection. Though it shows 6 cores for the "CPU Frequency Adjust"

screenshot 3 showed that there was 6 cores that u can adjust the multipluer etc from 0-5 cores 0 being the first core and 5 being the 6th, also under the bios with ucc turned on under system info does it mention the cpu cores under the cpu model?

I enabled the CPU Active Core Control and it also showed 6 cores (all enabled).

BIOS and System Info cannot identify the CPU after enabling all cores 🙁

Looks like a successful core unlocking lol time to stress test it for a bit to make sure its stable, since its unlocked from the stock 960t bios and windows usually do not recognize the exact model

CPU-Z reports it as AMD Phenom II X6 1605T but with 4 cores 🙁 Look here.

But under Device Manager, it shows 6 processors. Look here.

seems that the bios recognizes it, not all programs in os are always correct, like windows not getting a model number things glitch and give miss reads, try other monitoring program, hwinfo64, core temp, cpuid hwmonitor, anything that gives core count and read outs

Unfortunately all monitoring programs show only 4 cores 🙁 Oh well..

try AIDA64 and "Open Hardware Monitor". AMD lets you do so much more and learn a lot.
Wish i could enable HT on my i5 LOL . you are lucky man

The thing u need to know about the locked thubans, they were locked for a reason. Some work some dont, and some of the ones that do work wont work properly and the 2 extra cores are damaged

Again, the bios and device manager seems to recognize the 2 extra cores, run stress tests, if its successful then congratz, and if it still doesnt show 6 cores leave it, if causes a bsod then well the extra cores are bad

Does prime 95 run 4 or 6 workers? If its not stable with 6 you can try increasing the CPU voltage.
