Unlocking an i7-2xxxQM Processor?

Okay, so I have an HP Envy 15-3040nr equipped with an Intel Core i7-2670QM. From what I understand, it is a hyperthreaded quad core processor, with turbo boost technology that will increase the clock rate when necessary in high resource-demanding tasks.

So I've had the laptop for a little less than 3 years now, and I was wondering if it was possible to unlock the clock multiplier on QM processors. From what I know, the only kind of mobile processor to come unlocked out of the box is the XM series, but I was interested in finding out if you could run some modifications or hacks to allow a regular QM processor to do this.

I'm a noob, so do not pound me with hate answers or stuff like "you're crazy! that shit doesn't happen!" kinda stuff; it's just a curious question that I had.

I can pretty much guarantee you that you wouldn't notice the difference anyway. Get a ssd if you want more speed.

The CPU would also run hot if you overclock it and in a small enclosure like a laptop, you could very well experience overheating.

It cannot be done. All core i7 CPUs that are not XM models cannot be overclocked.
