Was wondering if there was a step by step process of unlocking the x2 560. I unlocked it and its not stable ever on attempts to under-clock. Was wondering if under clocking it would work and if so if anyone successfully under-clocked it and what multiplier and voltage were used to do so? I know that the unlock is a roll of the dice as they are defective quad cores.

Solution
Well, I'd probably leave it there, not do anymore, save cash to buy the cooler, then work further from there. Be careful friend!
What are your temperatures with the CPU? I'm pretty sure all Phenoms sold with an unlocked multiplier. But tell us your temperatures, maybe apply new thermal compound, clean up the fan, etc.

54 degree's celcius was the warmest it got on failure. Possible new thermal compound am about to try just doing 3 core's and see if that works. Also underclocked to down from 3.3 to 3.1 and will see if that works.

What cooler do you use?

Stock cooler.

Don't see a need to get a better one considering highest temp ive seen so far was 54 degree's. Could be wrong i suppose. Apart from that I'm flat broke right now and couldn't get one even if it was a requirement. Using the old x2 as i cannot afford a x4 otherwise i'd just go down that road and eventually will in due time.

Ok so far so good. Running at 3 core's and stable as all get out. Under clocked it to 3.2 and set voltage at 1.35 up for 1.325 and seems good. Play for a few hours and ill let you know my results. Also highest temp so far is 64 degree's cel thinking a bump in clock is due soon. Ill keep you guys updated.

yeah i agree a better cooler will only help. Btw just over clocked to to 3.6 and runs great! 63 degrees Celsius not to bad with stock coolers and a slight bump in voltage. Any other suggestions?
