Hello,

Just tried to turn on my computer tonight and I got an error code "UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME." So my first thought is that my drive died. However, I created a Windows 10 media tool with my USB drive and it will not boot from that device either, even though it recognises the device, it produces the same error code as before. No matter what device I try to boot from, my primary SSD, my secondary SSD or my USB, none of the devices will boot and the result is an endless error code then restart loop.

I have searched, but I cannot find any answer that helps with my issue of not even being able to boot from a USB. I will detail my system specs below:

Ryzen 5 1600
ASRock AB350 Pro 4
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200
Zotac Mini GTX 1070
ADATA SU800 512GB (Primary)
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (Secondary)
EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650

Thanks in advance.

Solution
I would say it is very indicative of a drive failure.
If you can, download Hard Disk Sentinel ASAP and check whats going on with your hard disk.
This program helps monitor the life expectancy of hard disks.
I physically disconnected the primary drive (SU800) and installed Windows 10 on my secondary drive (850 EVO). I am able to boot into Windows fine with this arrangement. I re-connected my SU800 and booted from the 850 EVO and I can get into Windows, but everything has massive lag and I am unable to access the SU800 (it shows up on the list of drives but it just hangs after I try to open it and doesn't display any properties e.g. capacity).

Is this indicative of drive failure or could it be something else? If it has failed, any suggestions on how to retrieve the data on it? I had a lot of important stuff on it.
