So as the title explains, while I was trying to fix an issue with a vibrating case that was extremely annoying I unplugged one of my fans that (thank goodness) was connected to a Molex connector instead of the motherboard. The Molex connector has two wires, one yellow, one black, the yellow was connected to the middle, the black was connected to the right side, I unplugged them both, the fan shut off, obviously, then i plugged the yellow cable into the left side instead of the middle, then I touched the black wire inside of the right side, causing a small spark that I believe to have emitted from my fan. I'm making this post because I want to know why it did this and how to avoid this later, my computer is fine, I'm using it right now to type this, so I'm assuming everything is okay, but I don't want to mess up like that again, I'm pretty much just trying to get some reassurance that my PC is okay, thank you!

(P.S) After the spark, I noticed a smell that kind of smells like burning plastic or rubber, I'm assuming it was from the spark, but it's mostly gone now)

Thank you everybody in advance!

Solution
you should be fine if you want to avoid it next time i would turn your computer off before messing with things because most of the time there will always be a little spark. i highly doubt anything is damaged i once shorted the 12v rail on a 750 watt power supply, sparks went everywhere, but the computer was fine.

Alright, thank you for the quick response my friend! I'll be more careful next time!(;

no problem did you fix the issue of the vibrating case yet?

Usually it's just when I'm playing CS:GO or anything that requires a lot of fan power, but I believe it was the fan guards shaking around, I removed them, but haven't played CS again yet, I'll tell you if it's all good once I try it again, thanks for the help🙂
