Hello, I seem to be having an issue with my motherboard. I have the Pavilion h8-1214

It's basically this with a GTX 550 TI and a Raidmax 530w PSU: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03154290

I'm having an issue with the video card that seems to stop working on completely random occasions. My usual 75 FPS will drop to 10-20 and won't return until I restart my computer. I checked my dxdiag while this is happening and my computer seems to still be detecting the video card. This happens about once every 5 days.

I'm not sure exactly where this problem is coming from, however, I have two strange wires on my motherboard that I am not familiar with. The wires are slim and plugged in directly south of my PCI slot: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf-JAVA/Doc/images/998/c03132331.jpg . One of them is plugged in, and the other is not. I am not sure if they were both plugged in before I installed my video card.

What do these strange wires do, and are they linked with the issue I am having with my video card?

I believe obsolete99 may be correct. It's hard to see for sure. But if the wires go to the top of the case, they probably go to the antenna. Did your system come with built-in wireless internet? If so, he's probably right. Does the small wire have a tiny press-on connector on the end? This is how they should be connected:

Did you notice any problem with your internet? Or do you have a hard-wired internet connection? (Ethernet)

But as he said, that wouldn't explain your graphics card problem. To find the issue with that, I would first try cleaning the system of resource wasting files and other crap and registry errors. Run CCleaner and do the Clean and...

The last picture you posted looks like part of your mini internal network/bluetooth card.

That's probably some form of an antenna wire you see attached to it. If that's what they turn out to be, it might not be related to your graphics problem.

Run CCleaner and do the Clean and Registry both. You may have to run it a couple times if the system is baddly corrupted. Reboot and see if the issue is gone.

Did you uninstall the old graphics driver before you installed the one for the GTX550ti? If not, that could be causing problems too. I would uninstall the driver, run Driver Sweeper from Safe Mode (tap F8 at bootup), and have it remove any Nvidia and AMD or ATI graphic driver remnants it finds. Reboot and install the latest driver for your card and O/S.
