I unplugged the computer while it was in sleep mode to move it to another room. Now I am not getting any boot or display. The computer lights up like normal, the fans run, the video card lights up, the hard drives spin, the disk drive opens and closes, but that is about it.

I have tested the video card and the ram in another computer that we have and they both work in said computer. I have taken all the parts out and cleaned them and then put them back in and I get the same thing. I have even tried leaving the CMOS battery out for an hour, but to no avail. I did try running the motherboard without the ram to see or rather hear if the motherboard gave me audible sounds that the ram was missing as someone on here said was a way to test if the motherboard was bad; I did not hear any audible beeps.

I have not tested the CPU...I think the PSU is okay since everything starts like normal...I am completely lost on what to do now...Running Windows 7 as OS. This is a home build...I know my way around it, but am still pretty amateur...

Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3...I did not see or feel a shock when I moved it, but that does not mean it didn't happen.

I just re-seated the CPU, but saw that it had dust on some of the contacts, but alas it did not work. Also, the thermal paste seemed to be hard and almost burnt, there are also dark spots on the copper part of the heatsink. My case/motherboard does not have a speaker on it so that would explain why I cannot hear any beeps.

Alright. I will look into it and get back to this post in maybe a week. Thank you for your help.

Okay. I found a speaker in my spare parts. I now hear one short beep on startup (I am running a GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 (rev. 1.3) motherboard). I read that this means: system normal...I am back to square one...

I get continuous long beeps: memory error by Gigabyte's list...Does this rule out motherboard?

I get the same "system normal" signal whether I run the HDMI through the graphics card or the motherboard. I still do not have any display.

I am now getting a start-up repair message. I have done as you said and removed the video card. Where does this put us?

Should I stop the repair? The repair started on it's own and said that the system could not start up. Or should I wait for the repair to finish?

It seems that in taking out the video card you caused a repair to happen which fixed my system. I think there was a corrupted system file that was caused by my crude unplugging of the system. Thank you so much for your patience in this, I am eternally grateful. (I will be sure to unplug it correctly next time!)
