[SOLVED] Unreasonable ram usage

I have 16GB ram. Dual channel. When i just start my laptop. It used 4-6GB ram. 30% usage.

Is this normal?
When i use premiere pro, it only used 6GB ram but my ram usage reach 90%. I cant find any other ram demanding app as you can see in this screenshot.

30% seems about normal usage for windows, even if you have a different amount of ram it still averages out to 30%. Win 10 can run in less ram than any other version of windows until you hit XP

whats usage like in safe mode?

1. go to settings/update & security/recovery
2. under advanced startup, click restart now button
3. this restarts PC in a blue menu
4. choose troubleshoot
5. choose advanced
6. choose startup options
7. click the restart button
8. choose a safe mode (it doesn't matter which) by using number associated with it.
9. Pc will restart and load safe mode

this is pretty demanding as it has to use ram to map it - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/rammap

reducing programs loading at startup might help
Try a clean boot and see if it changes anything - make sure to read instructions and make sure NOT to disable any microsoft services or windows won't load right - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

if clean boot fixes it, it shows its likely a startup program. You should, over a number of startups. restart the programs you stopped to isolate the one that is to blame.

i cant screenshot the safe mode so i will type the result here.
0-2% cpu usage.
9% memory usage. 1.2GB in use. 650 cached. Available 12.7GB. Paged 85MB. Non paged 86MB. (I never see such statistic before).

go through the programs you disabled at boot and decide if you really need all of them starting with windows. All clean boot does is stop them auto running, you can still load them manually if need be.

you probably don't want to stop everything loading with windows but you can reduce it a little probably. Steam likes to run with windows start and update games on startup. I decided I didn't need it. Lots of programs add themselves to startup, just have to stop them loading in the task manager/start tab or in their options. I could probably reduce mine but I have enough ram that its not an issue.
