Unrecognized usb

Hello,
I have been using a griffin usb to download from ipod. Windows no longer recognizes. Bought a belkin usb. Windows does not recognize that either. What is going on?

Do all your other usb devices work (i.e. mouse, keyboard, printer, etc...). Does the adapter work on any other PCs?

Yes, everything else works. Have not tried usbs on another pc. Do not understand why griffin stopped working.....................
