Hello,

I've got this problem for years now that said upfront, basically whenever I go below 144 FPS, lets say 120 FPS my game gets INSANELY unresponsive, choppy, laggy, stuttery you name it & I got it.

I have this problem in Fortnite, mainly endgame cause I go below 144 FPS there, my FPS itself is in every game insanely good. (400-600 in creative)

I tried tons of things such as;
-New PC (had 1060, i7 7700, 16gb > new pc 1080 ti, i7 7700k, 16gb)
-New monitor (Tried GSync didn't fix it)
-New Internet connection
-Reset windows multiple times + PC
-Temps are good too

Im literally clueless at this point, and very annoyed since I cannot play like other players with the same FPS, cause it just doesn't feel playable at all.
I cant really find any other people having this issue either, only thing I did not replace so far is my wall outlet, replaced literally my entire setup.

This is kind of what I have: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/240hz-120fps-not-smooth-on-high-end-pc.3459910/

Please post your complete PC specifications (exact make and model of every component) so that someone can better help you.
Also state what resolution and monitor frequency you use and what games you play that have tis issue.

I personally play single player RPGs and shooters at 1080p/60 HZ and never have an issue with stutter/ massive frame rate drops.

What's the brand and exact model of your monitor?

GSync should easily handle this. If you turn off GSync, but set your monitor to a 144Hz refresh, then yeah, you're going to get skipped frames, etc when the FPS falls below 144. That's exactly what GSync handles. Turn VSync off, and turn GSync on.

Also, I'm concerned about that PSU. Coolermaster does NOT make good PSUs. Further, you're dealing with:
  • GTX 1080 Ti, which is rated at 250W (can occasionally draw a little more . . and will do more so if you overclock it)
  • i7 7700k, 91W, and if by 4.5 you mean you're running all cores at 4.5GHz, then yeah, you're easily drawing more than that 91W of power. (I think that this was back when Intel was still rating their wattage at full use rather than base-clock speed)
  • Figure about 100 or so watts for everything else
That totals at least 450 watts, if not more. While the PSU is rated at 550W, I'm not sure I'd trust a Coolermaster to reliably deliver that power steadily.
