Hi there! I am in a rather difficult situation over here, there seems to be no solution so if anyone got a single useful idea I'd be glad to hear it. I have a 64bit Windows 7 (maybe SP1??)
So the thing is, I had come across an error that one of my system files (Classpnp.sys, a base driver) is corrupt. So I've decided to pull a chkdsk (with f and r parameters) and restarted the computer.
The original problem was, the system couldn't boot because of the broken file, but I could boot it once, and then scheduled the disk check.
But now, if I let the system boot up, it would run CHKDSK and would finish in two hours (with /r that's kinda nice) and tell me it found no errors, and then would restart the computer. Here comes the problem: after restarting, it would say this:
Checking file system on C:
Type of the file system: NTFS
The volume is clean.
And would get stuck at this point. Accepting no input for hours, I've decided to toggle the computer off and on. After restarting, CHKDSK wants to run again.
I cannot skip it(by pressing a button) because then it would get stuck at
The disk check is scheduled.
The disk check has been cancelled.
Trying to boot into Safe Mode gets stuck at classpnp.sys, and the startup repair tool just gives an empty screen with a mouse and the default oobe background.
Getting desperate, I inserted a Win7 installation disk, but Safe Mode from there would send me onto an empty, useless screen (that just says Safe mode in the corners, but has no functions at all); system repair tool on the disk freezes completely at the first window when it would look for HDDs, and a plain installation (ie. Clicking on Win7 install from the disk) would either drop me back to the initial menu (where I can choose between Install or Repair) or just stall completely, saying "Initializing...".
I've also just tried Last Known Good Configuration but that just made the windows logo appear and stall there for about half an hour until the system turns on sleep mode and when waked up, gives a completely empty screen.
It seems like a dead case to me, but I have lots of incredibly important things on this HDD and I can neither afford to buy a new one nor get them saved for a fortune. It has also loaded windows completely just a few hours ago, so it can't be dead yet. Anyone got any ideas?
