I was loading into a CS:GO map, then the screen turned into a BSOD with the code "VIDEO TDR FAILURE" caused by atikmpag.sys, sometimes atikmdag.sys

My computer is a Vaio E Series VPCEB37FG
Intel core i5
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
Windows 10
6GB RAM

I also noticed that the BSOD had a lot of white dots all over the screen.
This laptop has been with me for 8 years, and only now have I stumbled such a BSOD code.

I have tried reinstalling the driver (http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows+10+-+64)

I am currently using the spoken laptop, with a disabled driver (i disabled the driver in safe mode), else it would loop on the BSOD and end up with some sort of automatic repair. My computer cannot run tasks more demanding than youtube videos, but this suffice for my university work

What can I do to fix this?

P.S. What graphics card am I using if my driver is disabled? Since the GPU load on my AMD is 0%, am I using some sort of backup GPU? and will it overheat if used in such state for a long time?

Cause I need to use the laptop for University work.

Thanks in advance :)

Could be a dead video card, the Intel CPU has onboard video, you should see it in Device Manager along with the Radeon card. You can try doing a system reset using the factory restore partition or disks, that will rule out any software issues. Make sure you have backups of your files and have your program disks and codes as a factory restore will wipe the drive.

If that does not fix it, you may be able to remove the Radeon card and replace it with a working one if you system uses an MXM socket for the video card. If the video card is not removable and a factory reset did not help, time for a new laptop.
