Unstable Acer 5750 Aspire laptop

For while now my laptop has become more and more erratic, not sure if it correlates with win 10 upgrade. Typically it just hangs in word and has to be restarted, it became very slow when opening webpages and just generally misbehaved. Eventually I bit the bullet and reset win 10, I have added office 2010, win rar and pdf viewer. It has been like a new machine - OK, I only did this yesterday but worked on a large file in office with a stack of tabs open. I then downloaded Chrome win 10 64 bit. Maybe a coincidence but 30 minutes later word froze. No response to win X key.
It was running so nicely, is this just a coincidence? Any thoughts. I3 chip 8Gb ram, loads of hard disk space (Have checked hard disk)

so are you saying it worked fine until you installed chrome and it hung again? have you tried uninstalling chrome to see if it still does it...
