Hello guys!
A have a little problem, while gaming the gpu ( gtx 1060) it's boots by itself very high up to 1980mhz, and that cause so much heat for the gpu (80 degrees) and get very good performance in games like 100fps, but that is more than enough because i'm just happy with 60fps, so i turn on the v-sync to get just 60 fps and to lower the boost and the heat. Now it doesn't go up to more than 60-65 degrees, but the core clock it's very unstable, it's changing every second or three seconds. It is good like this? or does it need to be a stable core clock? Help please...

It's the way its intended. Now the GPU adjust the core clock based on the workload, temperature, power in almost real time. Don't worry it's the way its designed to work.

Ok but it's bad for the gpu the unstable clock using v-sync or it's fine? i'm just doing this because without v-sync the temp goes up to 80 degrees

That clock is not unstable. It´s "adaptive" so to say. It slows down when it doesn´t need to render so many frames to mach the 60fps and goes up when it needs to match the 60fps. Without vsync you will notice that also the fps are unstable while the load on your gpu is stabler. Obviously if the gpu has more load, it will be warmer. With vsync on, it won´t need to work a such a high load, hence cooler. It´s normal, don´t worry.

Btw, you got a Founders Edition, don´t you? the OCed versions from other brands with other coolers don´t tend to get to 80 degrees..

No, for the Gpu it's expected that the gpu clock behaves like that, it have nothing to do with v-sync, only that without v-sync as the card try to get the most fps as posible just try to use the more clock as the thermal and voltage allows him, as you are limiting the workload then the card when dont need the maximun performance just drop the cores to reduce heat and electricity bill.

Btw: If you dont want to use V-sync and you have a driver that allow you to adjust the fan curves you could drop the temperature to have lower maximun.

So the unstable clock it's perfectly fine using v-sync? no harm in that?

with Vsync on you were forcing the FPS to locked at monitor highest refresh rates. the gpu clock will keep changing it's clock depending on the workload (to save power).

Thanks for your help! i appreciate it😀

Yes i understand this, but changing the clock every time it's fine right? doesn't affect the gpu in any way..?

Its not founder edition. Its an asus gtx 1060 dual oc

Just to be very clear. That is NOT an unstable clock. That is an adaptive clock.

An unstable clocks means that your system crashes or causes artifacts when at the given clock speed.

Thanks. So the adaptive clock it's normal and fine.:bounce:
