I am really starting to get annoyed at my computer because I got an asus r9 270x but If I put almost any oc on it my computer freezes in games. I looked up what should be stable overclocks for it and my computer pretty much is only stable at base clock, but the stable overclocks are like 1500mhz and like 1200mhz. Please help I really want to find out what's happening. I thought it was the power at first or the heat but my gpu isn't even hitting 60 degrees c and my computer doesn't shut down in games it just freezes. Specs. Asus directcu2 r9 270x, Fx-8320, gigabyte Ga-78lmt-usb3 rev 4.1, 8gb of vengeance ram, and 650w psu. Please tell me what is happening.

Not all GPUs are the same, overclocking potential is not guaranteed.
You cannot just find someones best stable clock online, and instantly apply those clocks to your GPU/CPU. That's how you fry your hardware.

What are you using to overclock? And have you tried increasing the core clock alone, by lets say... 20 Mhz?
And what are you using to test stability?

Sorry I guess I was a little new sounding. I currently use furmark and valley-benchmark to test my overclocks, and as overclocking goes I am not looking up a number on the internet. I increase my overclocks by 15 Mhz each and am curretly running at a coreclock of 1150mhz and a memory clock of 1450Mhz. I realize this is still overclocked, but honestly it is quiet a pathetic overclock from what I have seen others do. It may be my graphics card, because all graphics cards overclock differently; but with this being my highest stable overclock I feel that something is wrong and I was merely asking for anyone's opinion or if there is a common problem that has a solution for the asus directcu2 r9 270x or if one of my specs are holding me back. also I am using msi afterburner to overclock

Reset all clocks to stock, and increase core clock only... once that is at max stable, you then begin memory OC.

I tried this and still couldn't get anything stable over 1155 core clock and 1455 memory clock It just says Unigen engine has stopped working when I go over this clock. Its an overclock, but it sucks

What software are you using to overclock your GPU?
