Hello,

I've got myself an i9 10900k and a new mobo MEG Z490 GODLIKE. I tried to overclock the cpu to 5.4ghz using intel's extreme tuning utility. The computer froze and I had to force restart and after the restart I reverted to default values but i think something broke because now there's a buzzing noise coming from CPU. At least i think it's the cpu. Done some research and found out that it's really unlikely for a cpu to make noise. Today I've had some freezes i restored the bios settings to default and it seems stabilized atm. What do you think I should do?

Solution
You've not done enough research if you're running a 10900k with a h45 for starters.

That cooler can barely handle that cpu at stock settings!!

In testing a 5.3ghz overclock pulls well in excess of 300w on the cpu alone, a h45 can't even hope to handle that, you need a good 280mm aio absolute minimum and a 360nwould be recommended.

Lose the overclock for good, you'll destroy that system otherwise.
What are the rest of the specs in your build? Overclocking demands more from the entire system as opposed to running everything on stock settings. Include the make and model of you aftermarket cooler as well. Is the noise coming from the CPU socket area/VRM's if so then that's coil whine, if you have an AIO, then it can be the pump/block. Include an image to show how the system's parts are occupying the case's inside.

Sorry for incomplete post. corsair H45 Liquid Cooling. Msi RTX 3070 Graphic Card. 750watt gold psu hera. Corsair 32gb 4000mhz ram. samsung evo 1x m2 ssd . Corsair 32gb 4000mhz ram. It's a home build.

Thanks a bunch for your reply, I'll get a better cooler.
