My apologies for asking this question if it has already been addressed but I would like to be more sure in regards to my particular laptop. I have a ASUS ROG laptop: Strix G18 - G814JZ - G18.194080

It came with 16GB RAM (2x 8GB cards at 4800) but is upgradable to 64 GB RAM and as I use it for gaming AND for graphic design I figured that I may as well upgrade it fully. I went to CRUCIAL and they gave a number of compatible options, some of which were 5200 and 5600 but when asking the tech they said it would run at 4800 max (but on further questioning they didn't get back to me). I have a 13th gen i9 processor so I thought that it would support up to 5600 or maybe it will be able to in the future with updates on the software end of things so I am wondering whether I should just stick with a 4800 speed (2x 32 GB RAM cards) or is it worth it to upgrade with 5600 speed cards and be ready if it can run these in the future?

Also, could there be issues if I go with the higher speed cards or if I run XMP to use them? Can it get hotter, create issues with the system etc. as I really don't understand how it all works. If just sticking with 64GB RAM at 4800 is the simplest option which will likely be enough for my use then I don't mind.

Would love your opinions and anything I need to do when upgrading to 64GM RAM to prevent system issues anyway.

Thanks so much all. :)

Contact asus and see what they have to say about supported ram speed.

I know that it supports 64 ram and 4800. I just thought that with it being i9 13th gen then it would also work with 5600, but I also don't want any crashing. Is there a big difference between 4800 and 5600 with 2x 32 GB RAM DDR5 because if it really doesn't make a difference or that can be issues making the software changes to allow the higher speeds to run then I would rather just stick with the 4800 anyway (it is also a $60 cheaper, but the price is worth it to me if it makes a big difference and no issues running it or making the changes to run it).

Thank you. It seems that it can, but the one that worked allows automatic overclocking and that is something I don't want to do if it can cause the computer to get hot. Right now it is okay and runs the games I play fine even at the 16gb. But I don't play at quite the highest settings although almost. I also use Adobe creative suite and may be running some more intensive software for a job. I am just wondering whether 4800 to 5200 or 5600 really makes a difference, or whether the fact that I am going from 16gb to 64gb will be the be all and end all anyway.
