I use usb flash drives to transfer data from Mac to PC.
Yesterday I decided to re-format my 16GB Sandisk, because it currently had a 4GB per file limit.
I know that I'm supposed to use "EX FAT" to format, so I did. I guess I should have formatted it in my PC, because after I formatted it in my Mac:
MY PC's NO LONGER SEE THE NEW PARTITION.
I can't even re-format the drive under Windows, because, again, that ~ 15 GB partition isn't even seen by the computer.
When I try to format the drive, my only option is to make a second partition, at 200 mb. Oddly, the Windows format page DOES see the Mac-created partition, but it won't actually mount on a PC. I also can't find any way to completely wipe the entire drive, on a PC. (I can on a Mac, but then I go around in circles... I even tried formatting to a single partition, on the Mac, as Fat32, but the PC's still only see a 200 mb partition available.
Another note: If I do create that 200mb partition, under windows, both partitions are seen on my Mac.
What can I do? Is my flash drive now toast?
------------------------------------------------------------
And one last, less important question:
On the Mac, if I choose to format as EX FAT, there is no option to choose the maximum files size.
Is this a blunder on Apple's part, or is there a work-around?
THX.
