Hi all,
Quick request for some help doing something I must have done 50+ times before but this time no joy! (And as always, it's on the father in law's computer...)
Problem
Thank you
Quick request for some help doing something I must have done 50+ times before but this time no joy! (And as always, it's on the father in law's computer...)
Problem
- Trying to install a new 16TB internal HDD on ASRock X570 / AMD based Windows 10 system.
- Failing to initialise with I/O errors
- Remove known good HDD
- Install new HDD - new cable, new SATA port
- Boot, enter disk management
- Disk identified, click to initialise >> fails with error "virtual disk manager a device which does not exist was specified"
- Rescan, fails with error "the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error "
- Different cable >> No change
- Different SATA port >> No change
- Attempted clean in DiskPart >> No change
- Replace with previous disk, cable, port >> Old disk does not reappear
- I've knackered 2x SATA ports trying to get cables in and out (hopefully not!)
- There some setting somewhere that is stopping the system accessing new / unrecognised disks ?
Thank you
