Update bios using windows or usb?

I got this mobo and i need to update it for a ivy bridge cpu im replacing the sandy bridge with and my motherboard cd has a app for updating the bios in windows but im not sure if it will work so i might use it with usb,so what is the better option?

For an older motherboard like that, you should stick with USB.

Those generations of Windows based updates had issues.

Bios can be updated using Local update. Instructions towards the last pages of manual. In the Jumpers settings of manual, there is also a need to place Intel Management Engine Jumper in Disabled position prior to flashing BIOS.
